International Student Mentor Program

The Faculty of the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities International Student Mentor Program (ISMP)  provide students with support and a point of contact to assist their transition into their studies as an International student at the University of Wollongong. The program enables international students to engage in activities that allow them to transition smoothly into ‘Uni life’ at the University of Wollongong and become familiar with the Wollongong campus and surrounds.

The program delivers ongoing social and scholastic support to students through peer relationships. The mentors act as a peer support network for new students through a safe and supportive environment. The focus of the program is to enhance the student’s learning experience and assist international students to realise their educational aspirations

Who are the ISMP mentors?

ASSH International Student Mentors are current UOW students (international and domestic students) volunteering their time to support new international students transition into student life through various activities including orientation and the UOW International Social Program.

ISMP mentors are a support network to help new international students arriving at the Wollongong campus transition into university and Wollongong life. They recommend attendance at events to allow the students to make new friends, learn to navigate the Wollongong campus, create fun memories and introduce new arrivals to Australian culture and communication. ISMP mentors are an integral part for new international students as they provide guidance and ongoing support during their time at the University of Wollongong.
