Amanda Lawson is the Deputy Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage. Previous positions at the University of Wollongong include Executive Dean of the Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts from 2013 - 2017, Dean of Creative Arts in 2008 and Head of the School of Art and Design in 2004.
She has more than 25 years' experience in the arts in Australia, including directorship of the Crafts Council of NSW and Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. She has also worked at the Australian Council for the Arts, NSW State and Regional Development, AusIndustry and as an independent arts consultant specialising in strategic planning and marketing. She has been on many boards in the arts and was Chair of Arts NSW Visual Arts/Craft Committee from 2004 - 2007, a Trustee of the Australian Museum from 2009 to 2012 and a member of the Australian Research Council's Advisory Committee from 2010 to 2012. She has research and teaching interests in curatorship and arts development and is also Director of the UOW Art Collection. Amanda has a BA from the University of Edinburgh, a BA (Hons) from the UOW and a PhD from the University of Sydney.
